A War for the Heart of Our System has Begun
Character: Lili Theresa Vogel (Zwingli) // Liechtenstein
Age: 19 years
Gender: Female
Occupation: Odd Jobs Between Travels
Home Planet: Mars (currently traveling, location varies)
Sexuality: Homosexual (demiroantic)
Relationship Status: Single
Appearance
Lili is a small girl, and at 19 years she still only stands to being an even 152 centimeters. Thought she has near doe-like eyes are a dark pine green, and her hair is a light blonde that is cut in a bob to reach to curve around her chin. Her body is petite, her chest more flat and her hips quite narrow, but all is made an illusion by the fluff of a dress she can usually be found in. Her dresses come in an array of colors, though commonly she always wears a belt to cinch around her waist, and she always has white tights and black shoes. The only other constant thing about her is the purple ribbon that is always tied around a section of her hair on the left left side of her head. Usually she also can be found with a messenger style bag slung over her shoulders, of which holds all the items that she can’t live without taking with her.
Personality
A sweet, soft spoken young girl to put it simply. Lili is a level headed, sweet/soft hearted, and usually calm girl, though she can also be quite blunt when it comes to voicing her opinions, which she does often. Despite her almost somberly timid yet blunt nature, she is a very social person and loves people, in fact having many friends as she is likable and in her own way, outgoing. She just generally a kind girl who appears naive, which is truly not the case. Despite being a cute little thing that most don’t take too seriously, she actually has a bit of sass to her when people are pestering her. She’ll usually keep up a smile, but watch out for her slight passive-aggressive tone and the twitch of her brow, that’s how you’ll know you’re annoying her. Otherwise, she’ll usually just be sweet as sugar and right as rain with anyone she comes across.
While not motherly, she’s certainly sisterly, and comes across as someone to trust. There’s just something about her that makes her usually lovable, and since she’s always willing to listen, that just seems to help how people are drawn to her. That, and she’s the type to give people the benefit of the doubt and just be there for them, unless there’s a reason for her not to be. Even those who are rude she gives a second chance to, as she wants to help people all she can.
Lili may be a very chipper, optimistic and forgiving girl of course, do not take such as a weakness. Due to being raised by Vash, she has a streak in her personality and attitude that much resembles him. That is where she got her stubborn, frugal nature from, and also where she learned to use weaponry. While of course he could be described and bitter compared to her, she just keeps any of her negative emotions hidden behind her many smiles whenever she can. But when the times arise when she is upset or angered, she shares much more in common with her beloved big brother than one might think.
Likes
~Pastries & Tea: Something she just came to love, especially with her adoptive parents running a restaurant that always seemed to have the cutest little pastry desserts. Tea however was just something that was used when she was little when she needed to keep her nerves calm or even to help her get to sleep.
~Cute Animals; Okay, to be fair, who doesn’t love cute animals? Though she insists where there is one, there must be another, because even they would never like to be lonely. Something like that is something Vash always told her, that there was certainly always another one around be it true or not, because otherwise he spent the next while comforting a crying little girl who would insist on being the animal’s best friend. Yeah, it’s good she just kinda believes they all just travel in pairs now.
~Her Brother; Vash means the world to her, he’s the one who really taught her most of what she knows, and all she wants to do is make him proud. He saved her from the streets all those years ago, and she truly can never thank him enough. Instead, she simply will try by sending him little things here and there that she finds on her adventures or makes in her free time.
~Her Stuffed Eagle; His name is Leopold Augustus von Habsburg II, she has had him ever since she can remember, and he is never leaving her side.
~Money; She certainly took after Vash that way, and she’s incredibly frugal with her money. After growing up with nothing, then suddenly being swept up into a decently rich family, she certainly has a reason to adore the wealth she isn’t fully use to.
~Dancing; Especially things like ballet, she’s tried to do unprofessionally since she was young. Dancing has always been in her dreams, and one day she wishes to pursue that as well. Though that will probably be when she returns to Mars and looks more into the theatre.
~Girls; Well, her brother always said she couldn’t like boys because they were bad and gross. Well, it’s a good thing she never did anyway.
Dislikes
~Loud Noises; Really, they just kind of scare her in general, there’s not much of a rhyme or reason to it, but she stiffens up especially when the loud noises are people yelling.
~Rude Behavior; Generally she just hates people being so mean and rude, it’s just in her blood. After all, why be rude and contribute to the negativity, when you can be nice and restore the faith that humanity seems to lack sometimes?
~Liars; This may make her a bit of a hypocrite sometimes, as there are many times when she lies as well, but that’s just her mind twisting her reality. What she hates are those who lie because they think it will save their skin, or is to spare some one. To her, honesty is the best policy.
~Cold Temperatures; She’s tiny and she gets way too cold way too easily, so she just doesn’t like them too much. When cold, she’ll hug herself with teeth chattering, but insist she’s fine anyway, when in reality she is internally dying to get her hands on the fluffiest coat ever.
Backstory
Lili Theresa Vogel was born on August 15th on Mars. What happened when she was young was a blur, though she can vaguely remember her parents. They were people who doted and coddled her from a young age, raising her to be a proper little princess and nothing less...right? Then there was her big brother, her shining silver knight, the one who had always promised to protect her and stay with her, the very one who would take her hand and lead her along when they went out, or make sure she got whatever food she wanted.
In her mind, her parents were lovely people, ones who were always there to tell her bedtime stories and kiss away her scraps with their parental magic. They would take her shopping, dress her in pretty gowns with matching shoes, they even got her the prized plush eagle that she always adored and could never sleep without. To her, they were the best, tucking her in each night, or wiping tears from her cheeks when she was sad. They taught her everything, right? How to speak, to walk, to sit, to cook and bake, to sew, they taught it all to her. Or..no, they really didn’t.
While Lili painted a beautiful picture of her home life, it was anything but perfect. In reality, she lived on the streets in the heart of Mars with her delusions. She had nothing but her plush eagle to keep her company, and was always in a ragged dress, curled up where she couldn’t get under foot of passerby. She kept her hair pulled back in messy braids with fraying ribbon, something she taught herself, and sometimes she’d weave in fake flowers. If she were cute, then she could always get food, right? Maybe a store owner would take pity on her and let her sleep inside too.
For years that was her life. Then an older boy stepped into her life like the sun breaking the clouds of a storm, offering her a hand one rainy day. This older boy would take her in with open arms, pulling her home with him that night and giving her a change of clothes, which turned out to be his. That was the family that took her in, but never were those parents home. They ran a successful restaurant, which kept them busy, so the boy would be the one to raise her. Vash, she would come to know him as, was like the shining knight in all the old stories. He was the one who ended up raising her much of the time, taking time to brush her hair, letting her sleep in his room when she had nightmares and came in crying. She looked up to him, adored him. Due to that, after a few years of living with him and her new family, she decided she wanted to be like him.
When she was thirteen, she cut her hair, matching the shoulder length bob that he had. Lili was ever so pleased, even though her hair was uneven and choppy, she bounced all day until the older boy came home from working with his parents that day. It was that same day he took a purple ribbon from the neck of an old vase of satin flowers, and tied it in her hair.
For the next few years, Lili was still so ever attached to her brother, though she had also gotten interested into arts, history, and science. As soon as she could, she spoke to Vash about her wishes to travel and see other worlds while learning more of her interests, learning all about them if she could. Of course, he told her that it was a good interest to have and that he wished to help her achieve such a goal. He took the money from working for their parents and gave a fair sum of it to her, but reminded her she must spend it wisely. Excited, she promised him she would, then promised she would be careful.
After packing her bags, she took her things, gave the boy a hug along with a kiss on the cheek, promised him she would call him every night, and left for Venus, which is where she remains to current. The moment they part ways, she felt her heart ache, but she knew that she had to see the other worlds.
Currently, she finds herself shocked and almost enraged by the things she has seen and heard. She had never heard of this GMC nor the atrocities of slaves, oh, not in her sheltered life. And what was this all about a rebellion? Oh no, no, no, this just truly wouldn’t do for her. Thus, began her looking into the little things she could do between her odd jobs, her studies, and of course her travels. Some details are too gruesome when she hears them spoken of in passing, which are the ones she blocks out. But, what she does keep in mind, are the things she wish to help with.

“Ow..!” the words were quiet as they slipped passed the small Germanic girl’s lips and she yanked her hand quickly away from the oven. Her other hand was still bracing the metal bread pan as she pulled it out from the oven. As soon as the bottom of the dish hit the top of the stove, she turned her attention to her now red tipped fingers, of which felt like they were still burning. Frowning, she spun on her heel to grab the vanilla from the cabinet and the paper towels, vanilla helped with burns right?
Lili soaked a wadded up paper towel in a decent amount of vanilla extract before pressing it against her fingers. With that done, she set the items aside and looked back to the bread she had pulled out. With it done, it could join the rest of the foods that lined the counters, of which she let her gaze follow
“Käseknöpfle, ribel, halva, goulash, paska and varenyky.” she babbled quietly to herself, a smile on her lips. She was certainly proud of everything she’d made, and how good it tasted too, all in preparation for the two women that were coming to spend the night with her. If there was anything that would never fail to excite her, it was when Erzsébet and Yekaterina were to visit. This time, however, she wished to surprise them by making some of the foods of their home countries as well as some from her own. It was like her little thank you for all the times they took her shopping or out to eat, for the times they’d spent over with her and were up all night cooking and drinking. It was always nothing but smiles and giggles, and she was sure it was always the break the other two needed too.
She shifted to clasp her hands together before stretching her arms above her head, yawning softly. By far, she was exhausted, but she knew her company would be arriving any moment, so she knew she had to keep her wits about her. So instead of taking her break then, she left the kitchen and headed for her bedroom so she could change from the flour dusted apron and dress that dwarfed her frame.
Making sure she was quick to make her way down the quiet hall- the house in general was quiet though since her brother wasn’t home- she stepped into her room and immediately undid the apron and shed the dress. The two items were tossed aside as she went to her wardrobe, pulling the oak doors open and deciding on a purple dress for the day. It was a sundress, one that would pull itself and hug her his before flaring out. With it, she wore her usual white tights, but kept her shoes by her vanity for the moment. Lili pulled the dress on, turning to her vanity so she could fix her hair and finally add the ribbon that she still had from Vash. Happy with her appearance, she flashed herself a smile.
That was the moment the doorbell rang with a following fist against the door, the way she knew Erzsébet always seemed to knock. Bouncing quickly on her toes, she turned and rushed from the room and for the door. “Coming!” was all she managed, sliding across the wood before she could stop herself by the door.
Misc.
~She loves the Grimm Fairy Tales a little too much.
~When living on the streets, people knew her as “The Princess of the Rhine” due to her royal, childish nature, sunshine attitude, and how they were sure she must have been Germanic.
~Lili still paints herself fantasies in her head. If something isn’t how she likes it, she’ll usually come up with a story that she prefers. It really can never be told if she’s truthful sometimes due to such.
~One day she wishes to have a big wedding right out of the stories, in fact she’s been planning it since she was very young. Lili is sure she’ll meet her lovely princess and they’ll live happily ever after in the end. In fact, she’s a romantic young woman, and people should be wary if they step in the way of her ideals (kinda think Lorna from OitNB)
~Her dream is to one day have a successful business, a loving wife, and her own family. She really adores kids, and would love to have her own to raise. She would just absolutely adore to be a mom.
~After years of Vash's insistence, she picked up on how to use a gun, and is one hell of a shot.
~Her voice is very heavily laced with a Germanic accent, sometimes she finds it that people can even have a hard time understanding her.
~She speaks German and English fluently, and her brother taught her bits of Italian and French as well.
~The best thing she can do artistically is paint, and she’s found she’s quite skilled when it comes to both portraits and scenery.
~Originally, she didn’t have a name. The one who gave it to her was Vash, the reason behind the fact he picked Lili was due to how she was always admiring the yellow lilies his mother had. Of course she was so excited to have a name, and thanked him profusely, to which he response was “It’s fine, everyone deserves a name you know.” Which earned him a very eager hug from the still happy girl.
~Her middle name, Theresa, comes from the single name she remembered as a child. She believes it may have been her birth mother’s name, but she is unsure. However, after receiving the name Lili from her brother, she thought she needed a middle one to accompany it, thus leading her to using the most princess sounding name she could remember.
~From how she was raised at first, she got use to taking everything with her. Something that stays true to current, she always has a bag with the few possessions she really feels she needs, which leads to her hefting things around a lot as if she’s trying to carry her home with her.
